Hilltop Championships

The nights action began with Ryan Markham and Rocky Owens winning Late Model heats and Doug Drown taking the fast dash. Drown had to contend with Rick Aukland for 25 laps before taking the main event checkers. Drowns season at Hilltop includes winning the first ever Late Model feature event, the Mid Season Championship race, and also the Season Championship race. Completing the top five were Rick Aukland, Ryan Markham, Rocky Owens, and Blaine Aber Another fantastic race was turned in by the Modified divison with Kyle Brown claiming his second win at Hilltop. In a late race charge Jess Hartman advanced from eigth to finish second ahead of Sam Lovejoy, Charlie Duncan, and Jesse Wisecarver. Troy Anderson cruised into winners circle for the second week in a row ahead of Chad Craver, Rich Frame, and Donna Canode

 

 

The Mini Stock feature got off to a hot start with Andy Parks in the lead surrounded by Mark and Terry Adkins but the fun came to an end with both Adkins out of the race and Parks on his roof. The action was far from over as Josh Morrow charged thru the field from near tail of the field to claim the win. Jeff Funk was the Truck winner ahead of Dave Caskey, Chaz ODell, Rick Jensen, and Gail Wallace. To end the night a special Mechanics race was scheduled for all classes that saw Danny Drown take the checkers in his brothers winning Late Model. Ralph Anderson was behind the wheel of Troys pure stock and nipped Randy Cornhaus in the final corner for the win. Ben Brannon won in the trucks and plans to race in this division full time next year while Wes Carroll took a convincing win with Jesse Wisecarvers Modified. Michael Carsey not only won the Mini Stock race but also a lot of fans who came down to have their photo taken with the winner.
