Hot Time on the Hilltop Tonight !
August 3, 2007

Millersburg Ohio – On track action as well as off track tempers soared as the mercury climbed at Hilltop Speedway this past Friday night, yet 98 of this areas most talented dirt track racers provided race fans with another outstanding show. In Super Late Model competition Jeff Gress and Thomas Baker collected heat wins while Norm Aronhalt was first in the dash. After battling Chet Alexander for the early featured event lead Aronhalt enjoyed several laps of open track before George Lee closed in and gave chase. Close behind there was no shortage of intense action with Jeremy Canada and Jeff Gress racing nose to nose, Ty Myers and Thomas Baker door to door, Hiram Bachman and Matt Irey trading paint, along with Allan Baker and Rick Bond battling into the top five. As the two leaders approached lapped traffic Aronhalt made contact with another car and spun collecting Lee in the process. The official decision sent Aronhalt to the tail with Lee inheriting the lead, all that was needed for the Bishop Collision and Repair / Hague Crystal Clear Water sponsored Super Late Model driven by George Lee to find Victory Lane for the sixth time this season.

The night was far from a total loss for Stormin’ Norm as he recovered for a top ten finish in his Late Model, then jumped into his Everharts Auto sponsored dirt Modified and fought off a hard charging Kris McCombs the entire distance to record a fourth straight feature event at Hilltop. McCombs won the fast dash and managed to lead a few laps but had to settle for second with Tom Conley, Jesse Wardell and Darrick Hubbard completing the top five. Kevin Potts and Charlie Duncan were heat winners.

Up next, any one of the top five could have won the Pure Stock feature but Fred Snyder demonstrated his championship form to claim tonight’s main event win with Troy Anderson nipping Travis Mensching on the final lap for second. Brandon Gardner and Dave Haven Sr. stayed within striking distance to complete the top five. The Mini Stocks fired off a fast and furious main event before the rains came and Chase Alexander kept Dusty Lint in his rear view mirror to take the win. The truck feature was called due to conditions and will be made up on “Scouts Night” - August 17.
